In 1773, in protest against London’s exorbitant tea tax, American colonists dumped a cargo of tea into Boston Harbour. Unsurprisingly, the drinking of tea quickly came to be seen as unpatriotic, paving the way for coffee to become the new beverage of choice.
Our stately coffee pot, in brilliant finish pewter, with a wood handle and finial in walnut-stained nyatoh, is based on an example dating from soon after that historic event.
